Character Building - Wednesday 31st January

This workshop was a bit different to usual as it was about making a character on Cinema 4D. This is something that before the workshop I had not thought of using cinema 4D for so I found it very interesting. We started off by making a series of that eventually formed a boxy figure similar to that of a robot. We then extruded these faces in order to make a more rounded figure. We then made polygons on the space where the eyes would be and chose to inner extrude these to give them a clearer definition. We then made the face and the eyes into their own polygon selection group so that they could be coloured separately to the rest of the body, this can be seen below by the selection on the right and the orange area shaded on the model itself.
We then added lighting and an environment both in white as usual. After this we then saved down this copy of the character and did save as to make a new file calling it sketch and toon. We then went into render settings and applied the sketch and toon effect. This then made the character more like it had been hand drawn once the outline had been turned on and the shading had been changed to fit my particular character appropriately. The images below show the difference between the sketch render and the original render.
The next two screenshots show without to subdivision on the panels that make up the design and then with the subdivision on what they transform into. Then lastly there is the video of the final outcome shown below both of these screenshots with the sketch of the character being shown on a turntable.
