Surrealism and the Uncanny Valley - Monday 17th October
Todays lecture made me realise how prominent surrealism is in the world of design but also everyday life. Before the lecture I did not realise how many things it is included in. It has an instantly recognisable style which in my opinion is heavily underused in the world of graphic design. In many ways this style is strange but it provokes many emotions which if implemented in a design could prove highly effective given the right context. This led into the Uncanny Valley, which made me think if as the Uncanny Valley scale suggests, we can make virtual images so life like that people begin to feel uncomfortable with them, has technology gone too far in an attempt to strive for perfection?
