Industry briefs - Thursday 19th January
The three industry briefs offered to us all had lots of potential however I am going to particularly focus of the Penguin Random House design award as I feel it is the best option for the level at which I am currently at and the skill sets which I possess. The three options for this competition have lots of possibilities and all require very different styles of work. The "To Kill a Mocking Bird" cover is the chance to create a very powerful and meaningful piece of work as the book is based around such a controversial subject. The cover of "In Cold Blood" could be a very shocking or graphic piece of work due to the theme of murder that runs throughout. Lastly the third option of "The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13 3/4" is completely different to the other two pieces of work as it has to be appealing to children. This style will involve lots of stylised type with a possible colourful, hand drawn feel to make it more infantile consequently appealing to a younger audience. I feel as if I will have to do more detailed research into the books before choosing one as this will allow me to come up with ideas based upon the content of the book.
