Manchester gallery trip - Friday 20th January
The two galleries I visited on this trip were The Whitworth and Home both in Manchester. most of the time I spent on the trip was in The Whitworth as after lunch I took up the opportunity to explore the city further. All of the work which I saw and some of the things I saw when in the city centre gave me inspiration and starting points for possible ideas for future projects. In The Whitworth the exhibition of Andy Warhol was particularly interesting as as it showed how different uses of colour can be used to give anything a different meaning and make in stand out. This may come in useful if I am to take up the children's book option in the upcoming project. Even taking a closer look at the branding of the museum itself you could see a clear use of minimalism throughout as shown on the above leaflet, this allowed there to be more focus upon the art itself. The design of the leaflet isn't complex but tells you what you need to know in a minimalistic style giving it a very professional style. This was something I found particularly interesting given my project before christmas of branding my own pop up gallery.
