Visual Note Making - Wednesday 18th October

In this workshop we looked at ways of visual note taking. At first we watched a video that went through the different steps of note making they were:
1st element: people
2nd element: place
3rd element: process
4th element: speech
5th element: text
6th element: colour
7th element: effects

We then listened to Christian's presentation about the debate around self publishing. I agree with self publishing as I believe that if you want to sell a book yourself and miss out the publishers who take a percentage of the money generated from sales, then you should be able to do so. Once you sign for a publisher your work is essentially then owned by the publisher so they are taking credit for your work. On the other hand working with a publisher is a much easier process and it is easier to win awards or recognition with financial backing. In this workshop we made individual booklets about the topic and then collaborative ones. In my individual one I came up with the idea of putting the main people from each side of the argument, Barber (against) and Doctorow (for), in a boxing match scenario. In the group one we then expanded this idea to make it so that one side one based upon our opinion as a group. The outcome of these two booklets is pictured below.
