Jonathon Lindley took todays lecture in place of James. He spoke about some interesting things especially how brands use preloaded information, so everyone has a personal experience with a brand therefore they are more likely to pick that brand due to the connection we have with them. Brands take advantage of the trust we have developed with them. Another interesting point made was about the production of the Playstation 2 and how it needs coltan mineral to run under a higher temperature. This led to the value of it rocketing and the Democratic of Congo in which it is found internally fought over it. This led to 800,000 people dying as a result of making Playstation 2's. This is a clear anti-brand argument however it was interesting to hear both sides of the debate. We then had to make our own logo in an anti-brand style which mocked flaws within a brand like the designs featured in Adbusters magazine. I went and did some research in order to chose the correct idea and to have some accuracy in my critical perception of it. Mine is mocking the corruption within Fifa using the old logo that was used under Sepp Blatter. In May 2015 14 officials at Fifa were arrested in an investigation of wire fraud and money laundering within Fifa for over 24 years. Also there has been a criminal investigation as to how the 2018 and 2022 World Cups have been awarded seen as the countries are not fit to play football in, however it is believed bribes may be involved which has previously happened within Fifa. To showcase this corruption I have replaced the footballs with poker chips to show that football was not about football with him under control and he was using Fifa for ulterior motives. With Blatter in control it was a gamble at all times and the money of Fifa was not being put into football. The end result of my work is shown below.
