Ways of Seeing: John Berger - Thursday 16th

This documentary was something that I personally felt was rather out dated and out of touch with the world of design. In my opinion the documentary was more based at fine art and not particularly graphic design. Something I did take from this documentary was the debate about whether or not seeing the original piece of work is the same as seeing it through a different second hand media. Personally I think it can vary on what in particular the piece of work is and its qualities. If a piece of work is small in real life then it might be better on a screen format so that it can be enlarged. On the other hand a large piece would not be as overwhelming in another media as it would be in person. Digital media offers lots of extra opportunities to enhance your work through different ways, for example interactive elements. To summarise in my opinion it all comes down to the piece in question as to whether the original is better.
