Branding and the meaning of life - Monday 16th January
This lecture was useful for the essay question that I have chosen based around brand and anti-brand. It was interesting to see different people's takes on the argument and see the way in which their work responded to this, in particular Chris Jordan who used powerful imagery based upon statistics in order to create pictures. The quote which summarised the lecture well in my opinion was "Design cannot be understood in isolation but within a communication system" as to me that means that to a piece of design work there is far more than what you see on the surface. To look at it in isolation is to not question any further meaning than the image itself, but pieces of design have so many underlying aspects that can be seen differently by everyone dependent upon personal experience.
