In this lecture we explored philosophical genealogies and the different methods in which a narrative can be visualised. One quote in particularly which resonated with me was the idea from Nietzsche "All things are subject to interpretation whichever interpretation prevails at a given time". This shows how there is not one single interpretation of an object, every interpretation is correct as it is just a different persons perspective. This is an interesting outlook to take when thinking about ideas for the new project as it allows experimentation of many different outcomes. Investigating genealogies further I looked at lecturer, John Kelly's work "The Last Argosy" which I looked at briefly last year. This is a classic example of using objects in order to create a profile about someone, in this case he uses artefacts from the RAF to make a profile about a pilot called Edward Rigg. However it was also good to see a more abstract less serious or literal interpretation, in the from of the Yokohama - Orange Oil advert. This advert is good as it tells you the key information about the product but also plays with the idea and makes the advert, about a not so exciting product, seem more entertaining as a whole.
