Experimenting with Randomness in Cinema 4D - Wednesday 15th November

This workshop was using tools on Cinema 4D in particular the emitter tool in order to create both stills and videos of something created randomly. So for these first two pieces I made a 3D shape then proceeded to twist the shape and place a camera inside of it. The only difference between the square and the star shape pictures below is that I went on to animate the star but not the square. In both pieces the sphere shape has luminance and reflectance applied to it. To then animate this I used the emitter tool to distribute the spheres, however this then needed the phong tag and dynamics body tag in order for the balls to react correctly with the end of the tube. Once applied they then roll down the tube and bounce off the sides of the tube instead of going straight through the sides.

The next piece was created initially by making a plane and applying a three tone gradient to it. I then applied a subdivision surface to this in order to split up the surface then once I applied the displacer tool it meant that different areas of the surface rose and fell at random. I then used two different camera angles in order to take stills of this of this one when the plane was black and white whilst showing the height from side on and the other when I had applied the gradient from a birdseye view. Also seen below is the animated outcome.

The last animation was made using 8 polygons all in different colours and sizes being emitted from the back of the piece using an emitter. I then placed a layer of MoText in front of the emitter and closer to the camera than the emitter. I then changed the birthrate editor in order to make the piece more busier so that more polygons filled the backdrop of the piece. The final result can be seen below.
