New Brief: Imminent Self - Tuesday 14th November

When I first received this brief I was confused about what exactly was required due to the words used in the brief of autopoiesis, sociomaterial and network ego.After further research and group mind mapping in studio I realised that this project is about todays society and current events which in my opinion could lead to some very interesting and powerful work if done correctly. The result of the group mind mapping is shown below:

My initial ideas for this project are about social media and peoples desire for appreciation. People create a profile not of their true personality but of how they desire to be and often this comes at a cost with people buying things that they cannot afford just for social prestige. Also there is that people often put themselves in dangerous situations just to create a post or video that they thing will get them more views or likes despite the possible consequences of their actions. By receiving this appreciation the people are drawn back to the app or website almost like they get and addiction to receiving appreciation.
